Personally, releasing control was a challenge for me majority of my life. Control in my life looked like, anxiety, worrying about an outcome I clearly had no control over, as well as hyper-independence, a stress response that caused me to feel I must make decisions and accomplish things without the support and the need of others. As I became more intentional about growing not only as a woman, but a business woman, I began to grasp the importance of releasing control, and began to trust God more and the plans he has for me.
Releasing control is a concept that can be difficult for many people to embody. Many of us are taught in our childhoods to be in control and to strive for perfection. We are told that we should have a plan and stick to it, and that we should be in charge of our own destiny. Now, all of these are important affirmations, however, the reality is that life is unpredictable and we cannot control everything that happens to us. In fact, trying to control everything can lead to stress, anxiety, and even physical health problems. In this blog, we will discover why releasing control is so important and how it can lead to a more fulfilling, intentional and peaceful life.
Releasing control in your life and giving your worries to God, is important because it....
#1 - Reduces stress & anxiety
This is one of the biggest reasons why it is important, and very relatable to my testimony.
When we try to control everything around us, we often become overwhelmed and stressed out. We worry about things that are way beyond our control, which can lead to feelings of anxiety (worrying too much about the future) and panic mode. By releasing control and just accepting that we can't control everything, we can reduce stress and anxiety and find more peace in our lives.
#2 - Allows For More Creativity, Productivity & Innovation
When we release the control in our lives, we open ourselves up to new possibilities and ideas. We allow ourselves to be more creative, productive and innovative, which can ultimately lead to new opportunities and experiences in our lives. We open ourselves up to enjoying each moment. When we are too focused on controlling everything, we can miss out on dope opportunities and limit our potential.
"Although at times I fall short, the moment I began to be intentional about releasing control, I seen my ideas become bigger and I left myself room to execute without fear and worry, which essentially gave me better results in the things I wanted to do. " – Sade Styles
#3 - Strengthens Relationships
Releasing control can also strengthen your relationships with other people, personally and professionally. When we try to control everything, we may come across as controlling and un-relatable, which can push people away. By releasing control and being open to new experiences and perspectives, you can build stronger, healthier and more meaningful relationships with others.
#4 - Encourages Personal Growth & Self-Development
When we release control, we allow ourselves to be vulnerable and more open-minded. This can lead to personal and spiritual growth and self-development, as we learn from our experiences and become more self-aware. By embracing the uncertainty, not being afraid of the unknown, and letting go of the need for control, we can become more resilient and adaptable, which can help us to navigate life's challenges with greater ease and grace.
#5 - Leads To Happiness & Fulfillment
Ultimately, releasing control can lead to true happiness and fulfillment in your life. When you let go of the need to control everything, you will find yourself more at peace, joy, and contentment in the present moment. You will began to appreciate the beauty of life and the people around you, without worrying about the future or trying to control outcomes, which causes anxiety. By living in the moment and embracing uncertainty, you can experience a deeper sense of happiness, passion and fulfillment in your life.
With that said...
Releasing control is a powerful concept that can help you to reduce stress and anxiety, enhance creativity and innovation, strengthen relationships, encourage personal growth and self-development, and lead to happiness and fulfillment in life. Although it can be difficult to let go of the need for control, it is a very important step towards living a more peaceful and fulfilling life. So, if you do end up finding yourself feeling overwhelmed or stressed out, try letting go what you can't control. Come to a realization that having faith is still an important piece to the puzzle of life. When you let go, you allow yourself to be vulnerable, intentional and open to new experiences. This can lead to the process of growing and becoming!
Challenge: This week I encourage you reading to write a list, one half (left) of the things in your life currently that you can control, and the other half (right) the things you can not control. Once you are complete rip the right half of the sheet with the things you can NOT control, and throw it away, then re-read the things you CAN control, and focus on that for the next 30 days.
